I was informed last night that Pat Lu, one of the administrators of “We support the use of the name ALLAH by all Malaysians“, will be making a police report with regard to ‘Facebook’ impostors who are creating mischief which tantamounts to cyber terrorism. (Background story here)

Well, one thing led to another, and before I can even shout out “&*##@… Zulkilfli Nordin!!!” in my utter disgust for another type of mischief, I received an e-mail from Pat Lu complete with a copy of her police report (as shown below) -

The Edge has filed this news item.

If you have read the previous posting (here), you’d realise that these ‘unidentified’ impostors were deliberately creating mistrust between fellow Malaysians and/or attempting to demonise the pro-Herald Facebook group by describing the latter as ‘racist Malaysians’.

Furthermore, it appears that there were also attempts at ‘cyber-phishing’ i.e. cloning the identities of genuine Facebook members and using it to appear as ‘the real Mccoy’ to unsuspecting readers while implicating a purported affiliation with an opposition political party as well.

Kudos to Pat Lu and her team of administrators for being alert to subterfuge and more importantly, for stepping up to the plate by making a police report on a possible felony punishable by law.

On the other hand, I have not seen the UMNO Baru Facebook administrators doing the same thing i.e. taking “Tengku Osman” to task for incitement (see image below) and reporting this person to the relevant enforcement agencies.

The UMNO Baru Facebook group may have deleted the offending material from their site but it is also their duty, as any law abiding Malaysian citizens should, to provide evidence of criminal intent.

Public perception of selective prosecution will be made even worse if UMNO Baru opines that selective disclosure (of criminal intent) is their inalienable rights/prerogative to fulfil.

If so, whither the rule of law?

Yeah, yeah, I’m still on the UMNO Baru Facebook case and this just in at about 9.30pm tonight or thereabouts -

URL link here.

Maaannn, this is definitely getting rather serious, eh folks.

Putting up a banner like that is like waving your red panties in front of a pot-bellied 50 y.o. male umno-nite (is there any other type?) who just landed the latest in a series of ‘negotiated’ contracts from the BN adminstration.

Firstly, let’s see how quickly the MIBs handle this. Will there be a statement from the PDRM later today (Saturday 23rd January 2010)?

Secondly, the flurry of indignant responses to Tengku Osman’s faux pas was positively heartening, as cited below:

  • tengku elok jgn post mcm ni la..nanti ada org ambil tindakan pula.
  • knapa bakar gereja masuk syurga? apa pandangan org lain tentang agama yg suci lagi indah ini?
  • Islam xpenah ajar bende mcm nie..sori i dun agree.
  • admin sila remove gmbar photo ini!!!!! or report!!!
  • ya…’giv them a lesson’ bnyk cara boleh kita bagi…bukan dgn melakukan kekejaman….tak de perikemanusiaan ke atau tak bertamanun? which one is u?
  • tlg report….. jalanlah pada jalan Allah! sesungguhnya orang2 munafik dihumban dalam neraka jahanam!

The ‘Tengku’ himself of course waded in to rub it in further:

  • tk pe, kteorg harus berani. drpd di hina terus terus.
  • eleh, coward ! we must giv them a lesson laaa… biar jera tu !…
  • provokasi ni… berhati hati jelah..selamat mencube ! (a Tengku supporter?)

Which eventually led to the following remarks:

  • Tengku Osman fake id!!!!! every one please report!!!! i smell some trap!!
  • ya!!! aku supect tengku musa fake id!! sengaja nk memburuk2 kan nama islam… kawan2 tolong report tengku osman!!!!!
  • Tengku Osman. Fake ID. Ni politik kotor ni. Nak memburukkan nama group ni. Admin, tolong delete kan.

Ahhh  .. yes .. another potentially fake Facebook member creating chaos in the UMNO Baru Facebook page and the umno-nites are totally pissed off with this insidious character who dares to desecrate their site with an unholy suggestion which goes against the basic tenets of Islamic teachings.

In other words, there’s a whole lotta self-righteous outpourings on this thread.

Question is – Why wasn’t this same emotional outburst and sense of collective responsibility equally evident in the other thread i.e. when ‘Non Partisan’ provided charcoal for the dying embers?

Sooo . izzit UMNO Baru’s turn to play the victim whilst appearing as God-fearing and law-abiding citizens of Malaysia?

And Tengku Osman is -

(Click on image for the link)

Yer know what really gets my kambing with this entire bunch of dimwits?

No one took the trouble to phone “Tengku Osman” @ 012-5647070 [1] [2] to provide any veracity in support of their exhortations.

Forty-five plus comments (at the time of this posting) and nobody, including the admins, does the right thing which sez something else is brewing with this thread. Why do you think this thread and/or photo link has not been yanked out of that Facebook page?

Typically UMNO Baru, eh folks. As always, each one is waiting for someone else to get the job done.

Eventually, they’ll leave it to the cops.

Yeah, right. Follow the script.

Update: 2230HR 24/01/10

The URL to the offensive ‘red’ message above is now replaced with -

Has good sense prevailed? Perhaps.

Or trick #666999 in the UMNO Baru book of ‘what-do-we-do-next-coz-we-just-got-busted’ didn’t quite pan out as expected.

And together with its absence, goes a collection of nauseatingly self-righteous codswallop.

Remember the recent news about disastrous capital flight from Malaysia?

Excerpts:

Says UBS: “Question: which Asian country had the biggest FX losses in 2009?” The answer is – “Malaysia and by a very large margin; we estimate that official reserves fell by well more than one quarter on a valuation-adjusted basis”

“Who is responsible for this massive outflow? And where has it gone? The questions cannot be answered from the data and probably will not be by a government that knows its own state-controlled enterprises, headed by Petronas, may probably be responsible for part of it. The more certain reason however is the outflow of local private capital has been taking place on an unprecedented scale in response to political instability, massive official corruption and discrimination against non-Malays”

Yup, that’s the one – from the Asia Sentinel.

And today, I believe we have a response from Bank Negara Malaysia, shown below -

(Click on image for the Bernama report)

Too small ah? Wokay, lemme enlarge the pertinent section for yer -

Sooo .. what’s the comparative international benchmark for a nation’s foreign exchange reserve?

Yup, the mighty dollar from the Hoonaited States of America.

Doesn’t make an iota of a difference, does it?

Oh well … Hawala anyone?

Heck, I don’t even know how to pronounce this name.

And you’re probably asking not just who but what all this fuss is about, eh folks.

Well, apparently, this ‘person’ is a Facebook member (i.e. according to that UMNO Baru-managed anti-Herald Facebook group) and the following screenshot was posted in their ‘Photos’ section [1]

The URL link to this image is here.

[2] is the alleged source of the message i.e. pro-Herald Facebook group.

And [3] is the Facebook member ‘Bedy Nx Muneh’ who allegedly wrote -

The screenshot was uploaded into ‘Photos’ section by “Non-Partisan” who also added the following comment -

Strangely, when I did a Facebook search for “Bedy Nx Muneh”, there was ZERO results for this name. I’ve tried generic variations of this name and still got no where.

If you have a Facebook account, you’d know that you need to sign up with the group in order to make any comments.

Thus, if you’re not a member of a particular Facebook group, you’ll get this image on your monitor [4] -

Alternatively, if you are, this other image will appear [5] which allows you to make a comment -

Sooo .. points to ponder:

  • Did “Non Partisan” upload a fake screenshot in the UMNO Baru Facebook page to instigate responses from its members with his (her?) added message and if so, why, if it’s not to incite irrational emotions and inflame matters further?
  • “Bedy Nx Muneh” does not exist as a Facebook member nor have an account in Facebook (and I’ve checked again prior to publishing this at 0415HR – 22/01/10 ).
  • Can “Non Partisan” provide the URL link to the alleged message by “Bedy Nx Muneh” as I’ve done with this posting for the above-stated screenshot to prove that it’s genuine? (More URL links below) Don’t try to create a new “Bedy Nx Muneh” in Facebook coz there’s always a way to verify when it was ‘created’.
  • Non Partisan” hides behind a non-disclosure clause in ‘her’ Facebook account. How convenient!
  • Will the UMNO Baru Facebook members be wise to such shenanigans by a person who has an ulterior motive and who deceptively hides behind a seemingly neutral pseudonym like “Non Partisan” or will they just swallow it lock, stock and barrel like any good  BTN-trained conscript would do?
  • The screenshot above is but one of several other screenshots (of dubious origins and/or purpose with an accomplice, possibly) uploaded by “Non Partisan” appearing in the UMNO Baru Facebook ‘Photos’ page with similar sounding incitements as shown above. Go here, here, and here. Mind you, all these were uploaded by “Non Partisan” from 19th January 2010 onwards i.e. when ground sentiments appear to be reverting to normalcy. Is “Non Partisan” stoking the dying embers, so to speak?

Therefore, UMNO Baru’s diminishing popularity since March 2008 is taking a wicked turn for the worse with characters like “Non Partisan” creeping around in Facebook.

UMNO Baru are desperate, financially broke without the rich cash-cow states and totally bereft of true patriotic efforts for nation re-building.

For an entity ‘resurrected’ in 1988, I won’t weep to see its demise in GE13.

And Perkasa will be clutching at padi straws, not lucrative baksheesh (3).

Yaaaaaaawwwwwwnnnn!!!

Went blog hopping at 6am, after ‘tweaking’ a posting for that other blog-site and I decided, “What’s Rocky up to lately?”.

Saw this headline – Another politician kaki sue – which ordinarily would bore me to sleep (still can’t right now) or death (nope, too much SABM stuff still undone), whichever comes first.

But I was curious, as usual.

Excerpts:

  • The lawsuit threat against Bernama TV is over its Jan 7 Hello Malaysia program featuring Robert Phang. It was a rare occasion where a local tv station had the gumption to debate the subject of graft openly and “live”.
  • If The Star wishes to play Wee’s silly game, it can well decide to sue Wee over his remarks in the NST that “I know it wasn’t the reporter’s fault. Someone higher up had edited the story to make it seem like I am hiding something.” That, to me, is a malicious statement.

Looks innocent enough but then again, that last phrase is mighty strong stuff coming from Rocky, ain’t it.

Especially when he’s taking aim (hey, I would too except that I find shooting a lame duck repugnant) at that high low-flying politician from Sarawak.

Curiosity got me digging deeper coz a keyword was mentioned – Bernama TV.

As you may have read elsewhere recently (ok lah, here), Bernama TV was supposedly for sale towards the end of last year. Has it been sold? Did the deal go through?

And if so, is Rocky’s contention that this – rare occasion where a local tv station had the gumption to debate the subject of graft openly and “live” – a breath of fresh air for Malaysian journalism?

I think not.

Why?

Coz Rocky forgot to mention another personality who appeared together with Robert Phang on the same ‘Hello Malaysia’ program.

It was Terence Fernandez from the Sun.

And TF had a lot to say as well.

Errr .. no, TF didn’t shoot a lame duck either, nor bragged about it if he did.

But he fired something akin to a naval broadside on a lame TV show which had a lot more ‘backroom drama‘ (I strongly urge you to read it otherwise this entire posting won’t make any sense at all) activity than what’s allowed in front of the cameras.

Hence, ‘muting, jamming and canning’ are still the perennial buzzwords for any BN-owned TV broadcasting top management ala (no pun intended, puhleeez) 1Malaysia.

Sooo .. whilst spinning (read: higher up, editorial oversight) news on MSM prints and even, on the online ‘new media’ websites is eeezy peezy for the ‘experts’, I guess, trying it on a live TV program takes some doing, eh folks.

Perhaps, Bernama TV should be more pragmatic in their future live programs by allowing advocates and solicitors (read: litigation lawyers) to sit in.

Beats ambulance chasing anytime, right folks.

Hmmm .. I just remembered something. Gotta renew my NPC membership soon.

Yo Rocky!
