I‘m Willing To Be Criticised In The Name Of Duty – Syed Hamid

MARANG, Oct 18 (Bernama)– Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar today said he did not mind being criticised by bloggers following stern actions taken by the ministry recently including the ban on the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf).

He said such actions might not be popular, but it was necessary to safeguard the country’s well-being, unity and stability.

“They criticise me on everything…but I have to carry on with my duty, not for my own sake, but for the country, security, unity and prosperity.

“I’m prepared to continue doing it. It’s not necessary for me to do something that is popular to many,” he told reporters after attending a Hari Raya celebration at the Marang Prison here Saturday.

He was commenting on bloggers’ criticism on him including the government’s decision via his ministry to declare Hindraf as an illegal organisation.

Syed Hamid said the stern action taken on Hindraf was meant to preserve the country’s safety and unity and prevent further controversies.

If they organise 338 demonstrations and 17 forums which caused hatred among the races, we need to control it. The action we took was legal,” he said.

He also reiterated that the attention given to the issue by Malay Rulers proved that it was serious and not created by the government nor the police.

“Don’t wait for the things to happen, once it happens it cannot be remedied,” he added.

Geez, Mr Homey Minister, did Hindraf really organised 338 demonstrations since November 25th 2007?

That number works out to practically one demo per day since that date.

Before that date last year, nobody knew about Hindraf or even heard about them and what they stood for.

Can you also quantify how much hatred were generated among the races by these 338 demonstrations and if there were any casualties, fatal or otherwise, as a result of these 338 Hindraf-driven demos?

Unless I’m mistaken, the only casualties which occurred during a demo was in Batu Buruk, last year and it was the police who shot unarmed civilians.

Meanwhile, on your reference to the Rulers having given attention to Hindraf’s activities, aren’t yer stretching that bit waaaay beyond what was meant. Everybody, including bloggers, are still deciphering the essence of the special press statement from the Rulers’ Conference and to you, it was specifically meant for Hindraf??!!

C’mon, boy-o. Have yer been indulging in unsafe and contagious subliminal messaging during your sleep or what? And if so, with who ah? Coz I doubt if you have an alter ego to joust with.

It’s bad enough that Malaysia lost PBP to RDC because of your incompetence, your current tour of duty at the Home ministry is showing signs of amateurish exuberance bordering on the irrational.. yer know lah.. like yer gone bonkers with all that ISA power.

For example, the Suaram chinese lady got arrested for making a police report on forced demolition of predominantly malay homes in Johor while the malay blokes who made police reports about the smuggling of indelible ink earlier this year were not arrested despite your own investigations indicating the ‘falseness’ of their allegations. Duuhhh!!!

Are yer for real, SHA?
