You know the face.
You know about the case too.
Now, you know that it’s postponed to the 18th of June ‘07.
With another two weeks to go, you must be wondering what else will turn up out of the court before we can get in the courtroom. Will 14 days be sufficient for the ‘newly’ assigned prosecutor to review the testimonies of more than 100 witnesses? Can the defense counsel for one of the accused be granted access to witnesses’ statements held by the prosecution. Should Karpal Singh butt out of this case?
There’s no doubt that the twists and turns this case is taking has everybody on tenterhooks, waiting with bated breath and for those with political conspiracies in their minds, a mind-numbing roller-coaster of anguish and euphoria.
Rocky said this while Jeff had this. Will they write more? Most definitely as and when the trial proceeds.
Me? No way, Jose. I’m not going to touch this case with a 10 foot aluminium pole. I have this aversion for subjudice material and wouldn’t want to be cited for contempt of court. Ending up being detained for 61 days is not my idea for an all-expense paid holiday, courtesy of the government.
Unlike someone else as mentioned here who courted the realm of public opinion as early as 20th November ‘06.
So what’s with the bold-lettered numbers. Take a guess?
P.S. Please be extra careful when you comment on this posting, will ya. For my sake and yours too.

The Drama Queen told 61 stories since 20 November 2008, plus three more……
So many stories can be said on a trial not even started yet????
Pre-judging Abdul Razak Baginda, Azilah Hadri and Sirul Azhar Umar (the three ACCUSED) before the High Court Judge and also implicating DPM Dato’ Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak in the same stroke?
That’s very efficient! Better Judge Dredd.
No wonder the father, Dr Sharriibuu Setev can sue them so early, like wearing a shoe before a sock is worn first. Very peculiar!
Shar101,
Are you are not relate to Dr Setev? Same first four alphabet, you know. If can tumpang that RM 100 suit, sihat oo……. 🙂

Ya Shar101, start another thread on sumtin more interesting lah…cornerlah sikit. But if you are busy/preoccupied, its okay. Anyway the public has 2 weeks to let their imaginations go wild. Furthermore there are many blogs which specialize on this case, subjudice or not.
Don’t blame the public for lapping up on sensational news like this. After all, life is quite boring and mundane in this country…directionless even.

I think all these speculation about this case is bad. Look, it is a murder case and I don’t think anyone will play politics with murder.
The burden of proof is on the prosecution and defense just scrutinise the prosecution’s proof and witnesses. They can’t penalsie the three defendents unless it is proven beyond doubts.
Read my take in my blog. I got creamed on Malaysia Today since every commentator there feels they know better of the case.
As Husin Lempoyang said in Malaysia Today, if you can’t put your trust with the judge, prosecution, defense lawyer (except Zul Nordin the Malay Tian Chua), police, and officials, who do you trust?
Not Anwar who got no locus standi but is mere standing locust.
Not Susan Loone the sensationalist who make claims of no partisn affiliation but was a dejected Keadilan candidate.
Not Singapore operatives infested (as Husin Lempoyang observed) Malaysia Today comentators.
Like it or not, it is the judge to decide and the check and balancee of the system.

BiggumD: I think you meant 2006 not 2008.
Shari, I think it is natural for people to speculate about high profile cases like this one.
I know someone who knows someone and so on and so forth. And the juicier and more titillating the story, the faster it spreads.
You really can’t separate fact from fiction. Or maybe you can.
But what Susan Loone has blogged is something else. She has put the DPM on trial. Which to me is unfair and unjust.
What the hell is she trying to do?
What is her motive? I think if she knows something, she should go tell the police.
I think she should be subpoened. Why not tell the court of law?
She doesn’t trust our courts?
Hokay…..then, nothing more to say.

I am sad that bigdog is criticising susan loone for covering the murder case. she is not wromg as she is informing people about the case. thanks

chua soo kok,
don’t be sad coz i think the Dog is barking the right advise. this is a serious case. a grisly murder. the killer or killers must be brought to justice. we have faith in our courts. we must have faith in our courts.
by all means, report the news. tell us of the drama and of the things the court talk about. but for our own sake, i agree we can’t be speculating. it is not our place as reporters and bloggers to make inferences or imply this and that. we have lawyers, lawyers bodies, legal experts, the bar council, observers, ex-judges, de facto law minister and others who can make statements on anything that may be viewed as amiss.
but the reporter/blogger can’t cross the line. if susan starts being a politician and try to implicate the deputy prime minister in the case, how can Anwar Ibrahim carik makan, man? she will lose her credibility as a blogger (not as a politician or an activist) and that is the point the Dog is making when he “attacked” susan.

I think the nature of the crime is beyond anyone’s imagination in this country. the perpetrators must be punished.
we must let justice takes its course.
have we already put our justice system on trial and found it guilty? i think that is terribly unfair.
just as unfair and unjust if we attempt to implicate personalities by direct speculations.
I am sure we know how and where to draw the line between blogging about the trial and making insinuations and direct references to certain people.
We cannot be judge and jury. whoever we may be. bloggers or not. but as bloggers, we have a responsibility not to spread untruths.

Thanks Black Maria for correcting the typo error.
What m.i.h. said is spot on. Susan Loone started her “reporting” on the Altantuya murder case 5 days after the two policemen and 4 days after the political analyst were charged in court for murder of the Mongolian woman.
And Susan Loone wrote 60 more stories after that, for the last 6 months, at a frequency of 3 days per story.
Susan Loone was playing Judge Dredd. That’s so unethical journalism and definitely not the kind of blogging we want. That’s so political also!
Tian Chua was arrested at the Kg Berembang demonstrations. Should the rest of us ramble on and on as if Tian Chua is on the “green mile”, for attempted murder?????

Husin Lempoyang
If Tian was caught with a smoking gun in his hand with 25 witnessing his act of murder, which include a federal court judge, a buddhist priest, a christian priest, hindu sami, muslim mufti, human rights lawyers, and good law abiding citizens of all genders (only 2 or perhaps 3), race, and age groups. All this was video taped and photographed.
I bet Susan Loony Tune and Monster freeking ball would say he was framed.
Hmmm … let me say whose missing?
Oh I do not have a Jewish Rabbi and Zoroasterian Monk.
